Smallsticks in schools is a Hockey New Zealand Program aimed at bringing basic hockey skills and hockey resources into schools to enable every child to give hockey a go.
There is also an element of teacher training so that teachers can continue the smallsticks program once their contract has ended. Trained smallsticks coaches will leave teachers with hockey gear (if the school chooses to purchase), a smallsticks folder full of resources, and the confidence to carry on the program without the assistance of the smallsticks coach.
Once your school has signed up to the program, trained smallsticks coaches will visit your school 4 times a year to deliver the smallsticks program to every class in your school.
